The interview with our technical director Riccardo Cusatelli

Every stage of the design and production process in Syen is carefully planned and monitored. Riccardo Cusatelli is the technical director and follows all aspects of research and development of electronic solutions and new products with advanced technologies. His job is very dynamic and wide-ranging: it goes from project management to architectural choices, from interactions with suppliers and customers to the coordination of personnel working in the technical area. Let’s find out more about his job.

How long have you been working at Syen?

I have been working at Syen since 2013 as a hardware and firmware engineer. Subsequently, I had the opportunity to gain experience in multinational companies, where I gained further technical skills in an international environment. In 2021, I had the opportunity to rejoin Syen as technical director, bringing with me the wealth of experience gained in managing complex and articulated projects.

What are you involved in today?

Today, as technical director, I am responsible for the design and development of the company’s products. In particular, I supervise the team of engineers and technicians, ensuring that the products produced meet our customers’ requirements and comply with Syen’s high quality standards. I am also responsible for setting guidelines for the development of new technologies and ensuring a challenging working environment.

How would you describe your role in the company?

The role of technical director is a responsible one, but also a very interesting and exciting one. Contrary to what you might think, it is a very practical and concrete job. Different technical aspects make this job both varied and challenging. Working at Syen I have the opportunity to see many things and to participate in projects that are always different. The unexpected also always creates new challenges to manage and overcome. For example, in recent years, the microchip shortage has created complexity for some projects. But it has also offered the opportunity to measure oneself against many new things, to look for new ways, without putting constraints on new ideas.

What do you like about your job?

Syen is a company with over 30 years of experience in various fields of application from cooking to refrigeration, from lighting to baking. There is certainly no boredom.
Each project is, in its own way, unique and involves the study of customized electronic solutions. Here I can actively contribute to ongoing projects and in everyday work.

What have you learned at Syen?

SKnowing how to manage the time of a project correctly is a fundamental aspect of my work. I have learnt how important it is to plan the different phases and activities in such a way that every detail is fine-tuned, without procrastinating and without wanting to rush the necessary development period. Accuracy, promptness and precision are fundamental values. Furthermore, at Syen I was able to work on countless projects, developing technical knowledge that I did not have before.

What are your wishes and expectations for the future at Syen?

My wish is to develop new innovative products that fully meet all our customers’ needs. Technological evolution is leading us towards a new way of designing electronic devices that are increasingly smart, interconnected and intuitive. The challenge is very demanding and we are constantly looking for new talent to join our research and development department, to help Syen grow and become more and more a leading electronics company.

Would you recommend working at Syen?

Definitely yes: Syen is a company that allows you to gain experience in many fields, to develop the potential and skills that everyone has. It allows you to work on many different products, from gardening to coffee and catering equipment, from refrigeration to IoT. The projects are very advanced and of high quality. It is the ideal environment for people who are a bit nerdy and passionate about technology.

Tell us about yourself: what are your hobbies and interests?

I’m a big fan of new technologies and I try to always keep up to date with the latest news. In my spare time I play the electric guitar and I love snowboarding.
